Unpaid volunteers who run the Boston and District Athletic Club (BADAC) have thanked local businesses for their help to keep the club alive – but say it needs further help to survive.

BADAC was saved from the brink of closure in July after receiving help from Rolec Services of Frampton.

Rolec stepped forward in the club’s hour of need to give it the short-term funding and business expertise it needed to remain open.

Since then other businesses, including Chris Cook Print & Office Supplies, Guardian Storage, Grimme UK, Asda, Oldrids & Downtown, D Signs and The Standard, have lent help too.

The club now needs further funding to guarantee its survival.

Peter Arnott, development officer of the athletic club, said: “The support we have received from the local community over the past few weeks has been fantastic.

“We are really grateful, but need more support to keep the club going. To aid our fight for survival we have set up a number of sponsorship packages and would urge people to get in contact about these.”

The Athletic Club was formed 14 years ago and since then has helped hundreds of local people keep active. It continues to nurture local talent in the hope of one day shaping a club member into a future Olympian.

BADAC runs sessions on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7-9pm for everyone over 8-years-old and on Friday nights from 5-7pm for 5 to 11 year-olds. All take place at the B-Hive in Punchbowl Lane, Boston.
