Confident Ruck earns first win for Boston Amateur Boxing Club

BOSTON ABC fighter Martin Ruck began the season by winning his first bout in amateur boxing.

Competing in an open tournament at Scunthorpe, he put in a confident start against Alan Barrowclough.

After a string of decisions didn’t go his way last season, things all came together for the Boston fighter on Saturday.

Although there were times when Ruck was forced on the defensive – especially in the closing seconds of the contest – he was dominant using the left lead to good effect.

This paved an opening for numerous body shots, leading to him getting the decision over the home-town fighter.

William O’Connor’s superior boxing style and aggression forced Doncaster’s Ricky Boyle to defend from the off.

When Boyle did venture forward, the gate was open for O’Connor to deliver head and body shots – securing a unanimous verdict.

Logan Hare was the third Boston fighter coaches Tom Brazil and Paul Teft took to the competition.

Hare and Scunthorpe’s Ty Bremsher were cautious of each other in the opening round, but a more forceful affair broke out in the closing stages.

It was a close fight but Bremsher was given the verdict.
