Andy Molsom secured his second podium placing of the season in the National Caterham Car Racing Championship at Cadwell Park last weekend.
After a long break from competition, Andy, of Molsom & Associates Optometrists of Spalding and Donington, qualified in seventh place.
After defending hard, and with numerous overtakes from the chasing pack at the start, he managed to pull away a little to concentrate on ultimately chasing down second place. Catching but not able to get by on the last lap gave Andy a very creditable third place.
Last Saturday, Andy finished ninth, a wheelspin at the start meant a few places lost from his grid position of sixth.
Molsom said: “Even though Cadwell is my local track, I have never had a great deal of success here in the past.
“This weekend just got better and better, and to finish on the podium was a fantastic end to a hard race.
“Saturday’s race started badly, and it took a while to get to grips with the car, but I got faster towards the end of the race, which was perfect preparation for Sunday’s race.”
This result cements another podium position at the first race of the season at Pembrey in South Wales.
Andy started 12th on the grid and after a 20 minute battle, worked his way to a commanding third place.
Andy endured severe pain for two races at Silverstone GP circuit due to a trapped nerve in his neck.
He finished 10th, but then went on to miss the next six races while recuperating.
