All of the six Boston Tennis Club teams competing in the Boston and District Winter League were playing at home on Sunday.

On the clay courts, Boston A’s Trent Hutson, Iestyn Halford, Matt Gedney and Sam Felipes started well against Boston F.

But a fightback from Zach and Toby McDonnell-Woods, Richard Woods and Doug Motson saw the F win 5-3.

Boston B – Sev Smura, Rachel Atkinson, Rachel Gedney and Mary Smura - played Boston E – Helen Duckett, Robert Smith, Pawel Aranin and Paul Stevenson - with the B team winning 4-0 in a contest closer than the score suggests.

It was the same scoreline when Ryan Frankish, James Newton, Dan Bambridge and Anthony Hulley helped defending champions and team-to-beat Boston C put in strong performances against the D team’s Richard Cozens, David Wookey, Michal Chmielik and Thomas Cozens.

In the Lincolnshire Veterans League there was a win for Boston Men’s Thirds in Division two.

In their first match of the season, Michael Audus, Andy Clamp, Richard Hart and Phil Cosgriff helped the team beat Louth Seconds 6-2.

In the Lincolnshire Mini Tennis Leagues, Boston B just lost out to Woodhall’s Tennis Buddies.

The team of Isabel Wookey, Bethany Hayes, Thomas Woods, James Burrell, Tuula Sohngen and Serena Morrow played some excellent tennis but were narrowly beaten.
