Boston Rowing Club’s Emma Feerick and Tilly Ireland claimed two victories at the Newark Head of the River competition.

The Boston Rowing Club duo contested the 3,900m course along the Trent, taking part in both the IM3 2x and IM2 2x events.

The wind was extremely strong in both races and the flow on the Trent made the bendy course extremely challenging.

However, the pair clocked two very consistent times - 14 mins 42 secs in the IM3 and 14 mins 48 secs in the IM2 - earning them victory in both events.

The Boston duo were also the second fastest women’s crew overall of the day, and in the top 10 of all entries.

Boston rowers will return to action at the Norwich Head of the River Saturday.

Tilly and Emma will also attend the Trent Large Boats Head on Sunday, joining up with a pair representing the RAF in a mixed four.

Boston Rowing Club hosted the Great Britain junior trials this weekend at the Carlton Road Boathouse.

The junior men’s scullers were paired up into double sculls for their 5km trial, the fastest crew being a composite of Marlow RC & Grange School (18 mins 01 secs).

The junior men’s sweep crews (pairs) had their work cut out with the wind, but the winners, St, Paul’s School, clocked up an impressive 18 mins 24 secs.

The junior ladies’ section saw a Nottingham win over 2k (18 mins 13 secs) and clock 50 secs for her 250m sprint challenge.
