Father and son Shaun and Mickie Simpson were in action for Team 87 at the Masters of Midshires grasstrack meeting.
Mickie was out for the first time this year on his 100cc 2-stroke grasstrack bike in the junior class, a bike he hadn’t rode for about six months.
And after not gating too well all day he rode excellent to four race wins with Danny Curl coming second.
Mickie’s dad Shaun was also out for the first time this year after seven months out of action, the passenger on Rob Bradley’s 1000cc sidecar.
After a first race win in the 24 crew field, the second race went wrong at the start with Rob selecting a false neutral, and he was left on the line.
Normal service was resumed in their third heat but, with their mistake in race two, this meant they had to enter the B final.
With a win in that race they moved to the A final, where four former British champions lined up.
As the tapes went up all crews gated well and it was Colin Blackbourn and Carl Pugh who took the lead with Mark Cosser and Carl Blyth in second with Rob and Shaun in third.
Out of turn two Rob and Shaun drove up the inside to second, repeating the move into turn three to take the lead, never looking back to take the win.
