Farmers reap the rewards as they lift knockout cup

JOLLY Farmers have won the Knockout Handicap Cup.

The Division One side ended their season in style with a one-sided finals against fellow top flight side Cosmos.

BBC (+36) versus Carlton Road(0) was a comfortable win for BBC, with an overall scoreline of 50 -37.

Jess Whyers, Bill Mortlock and Margaret Kirk for BBC keeping skip Chris Gill for the Road into to many single count scoring ends.

The Burtons (+27) matched against Jolly Farmers (0) produced a win for the top division team Jolly Farmers.

The Burtons put up a good fight but went out narrowly 44-38.

Central(+34) versus Cosmos (0) provided a very close finish with the Cossies four behind as they played the last ends.

Overall they picked up 2-3 to go through by one shot 45-44.

Boston Park (+20) matched against Halfpints (0) proved even closer the Halfpints picking up six shots to two against to force for them a third tied game in the competition 40-40.

The tie break rule being used saw Halfpints going through to the semis.

In the semi finals BBC (+32) against Jolly Farmers (0) saw the latter winning through in a close game 57 -52.

The Farmers picked up their game in the latter stages to snatch the win.

Halfpints (+24) matched against Cosmos (0) was another good display from the Halfpints.

With 13 ends played overall Halfpints were leading 41-32 with the clock running down Cossies won the remaining ends played without reply to squeeze home 42-41.

The final, after the close games in the quarters and semis, proved a one horse race.

Jolly Farmers (+15) were too strong for Cosmos (0) and won 41-26 overall.
