Boston Rowing Club’s Ruby and Jasmine Latka have claimed a fifth place at the British Junior Championships.
The twins teamed up with a duo from Newark Rowing Club to compete in the WJ14 4x+ section.
A time trial on Saturday trimmed the field of 25 boats down to just 12.
The quartet stuck to their task and finished seventh on day one.
A favourable semi-final draw avoided the big three teams from London.
The young ladies smoothly sculled to the third qualifying spot by a massive 18 seconds from fourth place, expending minimal energy.
The final was a tough affair with four crews, including the twins’ boat, separated by less than two seconds.
Ably steered by Boston’s Lewis Belton, their cox for the event, the girls gave it their all and were awarded fifth with an over-lapping finish.
This is the highest placed finish by any Boston crew at the championships.
Rugby and Jasmine only took up rowing after being impressed by the sport while watching the London Olympics two years ago.
