KAWASAKI Team Green/G&S Racing rider Tom Fisher has been on top form throughout the 2012 season, finishing the majority of his races within the top 10.
The rider continued in the same vein at Donington Park when, despite the race being red flagged just before two thirds distance, he scored a strong 10th place in the Metzeler National Superstock 600 race on Sunday.
Starting from a third row grid position Fisher got away to a fantastic start but being in the middle of a large group of riders, he was pushed wide onto the gravel losing ground to complete the first lap down in 15th place.
But Fisher soon regained his composure and began to pick off the opposition and was holding 10th place when the red flag brought the race to an early end on lap nine of 14.
“That’s a real shame,” said Tom.
“I was poised to move further forward when the red flag stopped us.
“I was looking at a good seventh place if the race had gone full distance.”
Team manager Mark Fisher added: “In every session in all classes this weekend the times have been well under the existing lap record and Tom has gone much faster than ever before at Donington.
“It’s the first time in three years that we have had some decent weather and track conditions have been the best in a long time. Even though it was dry in the last round here with the World Superbikes it was cold so the times were down a bit.”
With the six points won at Donington, Fisher is now ninth in the overall points table but he is within striking distance of the top five.
There are only eight points between him and Alex Olsen who holds fifth and a good result from each of the final two rounds could see him close down on his target.
The penultimate round is at Silverstone on September 30, ahead of the season finale at Brands Hatch on October 14.
