Boston and District Athletic Club representatives achieved six wins at the fourth of this season’s Lincolnshire Track and Field League matches at Lincoln’s Yarborough track.
Weather conditions were overcast and cooler than of late, giving the athletes a sporting chance of producing good performances.
Following his personal best 1,500m time of 4 mins 24 secs - recorded at the Streatford Open meeting last Tuesday - Jose Ferriera confidently romped around two laps in Lincoln on Sunday to win the senior men’s 800m in 2 mins 08.1 secs.
Senior lady Emma Penson ‘s hammer throw of 12.23m earned her second-place points.
At under 15 level, Laura Van Lier cleared 1.46m to claim first position in the high jump, and then clocked 13.6 secs in second place at the end of the 75m hurdles race.
William Parsons secured a double, winning the triple jump with a leap of 8.42m and the 200m, clocking 29.5 secs.
He added an encouraging second place in the hammer with a throw measuring 21.08m.
Under 13 Jenson Bark went over 1.25m for victory in the high jump and crossed the line second in the 100m in 15.2 secs.
In the same age group, on her first Lincs League competition, Millie Goodwin gained valuable experience and claimed third places in the 70m hurdles (15.3 secs) and javelin (7.60m).
Macey Andrews ran a strong and spirited 80m sprint, finishing second in 13.2 secs at the end of a competitive under 11s contest.
In the boys’ race over the same distance, Jenson Barkworth recorded 13.9secs in third place.
There were encouraging performances by under 11 Gold Tops Jamie Westland and Hallam Bedford and, in the under 13s section, Joanna Ward, Jack Rushby and David Scott.
