Boston Golf Club Lady Captain Kath Yates and club captain Tony Miller put out teams for the Macmillan Trophy.
This match play competition is held every year to coincide with Macmillan Coffee Morning.
On arrival, members were greeted by a selection of cakes and pastries, the morning starting with coffee and cake.
The Macmillan coffee morning saw 20 pairs plus single pairings Ross Giller and Darryll Cassere in the now annual Lady Captain versus Club Captain event.
The game was played in glorious sunshine and all pairs battled on to the eighteenth hole.
This year, the cup was presented to club captain Tony Miller by new Lady Captain Kath Yates.
Tony’s team won 23-9. Two pairs were presented with prizes - Pat Couture and Mike Disney, John Kadzionis and Chris Needham - both winning 6 up.
Russ Delahoy won nearest the pin on the second hole.
The overall winner was Macmillan Cancer Support, which will receive £1000 from Boston Golf Club through cakes donated and baked by Carol Francis,
Boston Ladies played the Daily Mail Foursomes, a knockout strokeplay competition with the best pair going forward to the next round, for which the venue has yet to be confirmed.
The winners of the Boston event were Yvonne Shaffarczyk and Ruth Simpson, with 80.5. Runners up were Ann Hodgson and Barbara Unwin with 76.5.
New Lady Captain Kath Yates teamed up with the Seniors’ captain (Ray Smith), with nine teams of two ladies and two men playing an Am-Am, best lady, best gentleman to score on 18 holes.
The winning team were Ross Giller, Dave Sutton, Pam King and Janet Read with 82 stableford points.
Runners-up were Nick McLaven, Stuart Haywood, Anne Gullick and Jacquie Short with 79pts.
The half way house proved very popular serving tea, coffee, cold drinks and home made scones. The day was finished off with a welcome meal of sausage and mash.
The Lady Captain took on the lady vice captain in a match play competition, with members drawn and allocated to their respective teams. There were 12 pairs altogether, with six games played. The lady vice captain’s team won three and half to two and a half.
