TJ Gymnastics Academy recently hosted a summer artistic competition for girls and boys ranging in age from four to 16.
The Academy, based at the PRSA in Boston, offered local clubs the chance to join them and 102 young gymnasts took part. The clubs that joined TJs on the day were Spalding Gymnastics Club, Sleaford Gymnastics Club and Apex. For many of the girls and boys this was the first time they had taken part in a competition. The gymnasts were fantastically supported by well over 200 excited family members.
The competition was split into various groups called Sunshine, Lollipop, Ice Cream, Daisy and Sandcastle. Then the groups were split down further into age categories.
Within each section the gymnasts competed on vault, trampette, tumble, beam and finally range, with medals awarded for each piece within each age group in every group. The competition was keenly contested over the five levels, and 250 medals were awarded and five giant lollipops were handed out to the overall winners of each level.
The overall winners were: Lucy Rudd from Spalding (Sunshine); Darcy Orford from Spalding (Lollipop); Liberty Foden from Spalding (Daisy); Hannah Rushen from Sleaford (Ice Cream); Lillie Manning from TJ Gymnastics Academy (Sandcastle).
TJ Gymnastics Academy artistic head Rudi Wall said: “I’m incredibly proud of the efforts of all my gymnasts. As a club we managed over 100 medals and special awards for outstanding performances on a piece of apparatus.”
The event also raised over £600 towards new equipment for TJ Gymnastics Academy.
