Harley Maddison has broken a Boston Swimming Club record - set 21 years ago by future Olympian Melanie Marshall.

The 13-year-old was competing in the 100m butterfly at the Lincolnshire Amateur Swimming Association’s county championships at Grantham.

Competing against older rivals in the 14-years section, Harley clocked a time of 1 min 8.49 secs to claim first place.

The previous record stood for 21 years, and was set by former club member Marshall.

After graduating from the Boston club, Marshall went on to represent Great Britain in two Olymnpic Games - Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.

She also became the most decorated Englishwoman ever at a single Commonwealth Games after scooping six medals at Melbourne 2006.
