THE family of horse-mad teenager Jade Wilson-Ayres now have a fittimg reminder of their daughter’s life.
Jade was 19 when she died two years ago, during an operation on her skull.
But friends and family make sure her memory lives on every year in the form of the Jade Wilson-Ayres Memorial Trophy, held at the Ultimate Showjumping Championships at Grantham’s Arena UK.
And this year, friend Stacy Nichols claimed fifth place in the Grand Prix event - riding Jade’s horse Wendy III.
The third-annual Memorial Class event saw Nichols claim fifth, winning one of the six large rosettes on offer.
“We’re very happy, we now have one of the rosettes from Jade’s class,” said dad Robin Ayres.
The overall winner was Sussex’s Susan Long.
The event is used by many competitors as a final indoor warm-up event ahead of the Horse opf the Year Show at Birmingham’s NEC.
