Boston Hockey Club’s under 12s travelled to Horncastle to take part in the first round of the Lincolnshire Friendly League.
Starting in Division A, it was a tough start for the Boston youngsters - but they acquitted themselves well.
Starting against Lincoln, a late goal saw them lose 1-0.
Their next game against Louth was one that they would probably want to forget, drawing 0-0.
That was a worry as their next two games were against favourites for the leagues, but to the young side’s credit they pulled their collective sleeves up drawing 0-0 with both Spalding and Long Sutton.
The next contest - against Bourne - resulted in the club’s fourth consecutive goalless draw.
A 2-1 defeat to Sleaford then concluded the day’s action as the side switched off twice before pulling a goal back.
