Twenty members of Boston Gold Club’s ladies’ section set out in glorious conditions for the Past Captains’ Trophy and extra medal.
Fourteen past captains were eligible to win the trophy.
Joan Young clinched the title with her unusual shot on to the 18th green, the ball doing a Barnes Wallace on the pond and finishing near enough to the hole for her to pop it in, giving her a finish of 94-23-71 nett.
This dropped her handicap to 22.
The runner-up and lowest gross score was Fran Grant with 90-17=73 nett.
Third was Yvonne Wright with 97-21=76 nett.
Pam Clare took the prize for best player not able to compete for the trophy, her score of 100-23-77 nett putting her in fourth position.
On Thursday Boston ladies played at home against a team from Boston West, a friendly match of mixed handicap players.
Boston won 3-1.
