Boston ABC fighter Aaron Johnson was made to earn his victory over Jack Scragg the hard way.
Competing in Stoke at the weekend, Johnson gained the much-needed boost after results haven’t gone his way of late.
Topping the bill, the pair didn’t disappoint in their bout.
Johnson provided the spark which got the contrests really going at the start of the second round, his southpaw stance baffling the home-town fighter.
Johnson gradually gained the upper hand, but Scragg wasn’t going anywhere and, in his desperation, he drew Johnson into a free-for-all towards the end of the final round.
However, the Boston lad did enough to get the verdict.
Also in action at Stoke was Boston’s Macauley Blackamore.
But this weekend the compact fighter could not get the cohesion between his attack and defence right.
That left him open to shots from Ali Hassan.
On this occasion it was no suprise the Rochdale lad got the verdict.
Nina Bradley suffered a rare defeat to Kim Sharman as they met in Birmingham this weekend.
Although the Birmingham-based fighter upped her effort in the final round, Bradley and her corner thought she had done enough.
