Boston sprinter Kane Wright was in record-breaking form at the weekend.
He blasted to victory in his heat at the English under 20 Indoor Championships in Sheffield, setting a Nene Valley Harriers club record in the process.
He was first out of the blocks and stormed to victory in a personal best and club record of 6.94 seconds, but he couldn’t repeat the feat in the final.
He made a mess of the start and, with his hopes of reaching the final over, jogged over the line in 7.8.
It proved a frustrating semi-final for the 18-year-old, as a seven-seconds performance would have secured a place in the final.
Wright has started the year well and took silver at the North of England Championships in Sheffield.
