King of clubs reigns supreme

ROS Martin won the April Medal in the ladies’ section at Boston Golf Club.

She recorded nett 72 to defeat runner-up Joan Young (nett 74) and Jackie Short (nett 75).

Friendly club matches saw Boston defeat Spalding, Blankney, Seacroft, Boston West, and Sutton Bridge but losing out to Louth.

In the first round of the Mail on Sunday competition, the ladies won 4-1 against Boston West, but were beaten in round two against Skegness’ North Shore on the 19th hole at Cowbridge.

In the Daily Mail Foursomes, Jean Markham and Jenny Geeson played at Woodthorpe Hall and won 2&1.

Lady captain Pam King hosted two events in aid of her charity, The John Fielding Community Special School.

A bridge event and race evening raised £319.

King started the season off with a winning score of 42 points in the March stableford, cutting her handicap by two shots.

Jenny Geeson was second (41) and also cut her handicap.

The lady captain continued to be in good form, winning the Suzanne Cooper Cup, a foursomes medal event, with her partner Ann Wallhead.

They won on countback from Ann Hodgson and Yvonne Schaffarczyk with 76 points.

The Coronation Foursomes, a stableford event, was won by Fran Grant and Yvonne Scaffarczyk with 36 points.

Their good form continued as they also won the 4BBB Ping competition with 38 points from Jackie Short and Maureen Green.

Jean Markham won the Two Clubs and a Putter contest with 32 points.
