BOSTON Tennis Club held its annual Ladies’ Day on Thursday.

Winners included club members Vicky Coda East, Tracy Hull, Carolyn Cotton and Jenny Murphy.

The popular event was organized by Lesley Addy.

This year there were 44 entrants, attracting players from not only Boston Tennis Club but also other from clubs around the county.

The day began with play outside as well as indoors, but the rain set in and the matches were finished under cover.

However, this didn’t spoil the day.

The event was sponsored by Oriflame UK and the representative presented prizes to the four pairs of winners.

Boston Tennis Club members Vicky East and Tracy Hull won one of the groups while Carolyn Cotton and Jenny Murphy took first place in another.

Jenny Golland and Sue Bowser, from Woodhall, and Harriet May and Helen Whitfield, from Bourne, were the lead pairs in the other two groups.

Boston Tennis Club youngsters Lucy Hull, Faith Coffey, Paris Royal, Joe Fisher and Lucas East have spent a busy weekend representing the county at 10 and under level in the Aegon County Cup.

The girls played at the Eastgate club and finished in a very creditable third position, behind Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire.

The boys played at Loughborough and suffered from rain disruption on the second day.

On the first day, however, there was a strong performance against Warwickshire and there was hardly anything separating the teams.

These were excellent performances from both the boys and the girls.

In the Slazenger Lincolnshire Doubles League, the Boston Tennis Club men’s Third team and the ladies’ Fifth team both earned 6-3 wins.

The ladies were away to Bourne Seconds in the third division of the league and it was a strong win for the team of Sue Dring, Lyn Edwards, Jayne Walsh, Helen Duckett, Denise Priestley and Rebecca Beardsley.

The men’s Thirds played at Tealby, also in the third division.

The team of Geoff Short, Richard Hart, Chris Cook, John Gibson, Mike Sweeney and Dan Bambridge faced a tough first pair but maintained steady results against the other two pairs.
