BOSTON’S men and women have been back in action in the Aegon Team Tennis competition.
Boston’s ladies’ teams had good wins at both regional and county level.
They beat Lincoln’s Eastgate in the East Midlands League and Boston Ladies’ Seconds beat David Lloyd Burton Waters in the county event.
Against Eastgate Sam Cook, Lucy Fowler, Madeline Verdegaal and Emily Hawkesworth won 5-1.
This Sunday, Boston Ladies’ second team - Lucy Fowler, Sue Beesley, Rachel Atkinson and Joan Beale - won 4-2 at Burton Waters.
The mens’ teams lost out in their Aegon matches.
The firsts, playing in the National League, lost on a deciding tie-break as they entertained Stourbridge.
Steve Wood, Will Mason, Sam Kemp, Dom Beesley and Mark Thomson represented Boston.
The firsts also lost out 5-1 to Nottingham’s Lady Bay.
Will Mason, Sam Kemp, Dom Beesley and Dom Llayton-Hannam made up the team.
The mens’ seconds – Callum Simmonds, Richard Cook, Lewis Fisher and Steve Green - lost out 1-5 at Grimsby Tennis Centre in the county event
The boys’ under 14s team played University of Warwick and gained the teams’ second win of the season in the Aegon Junior Premier Division, 7-6.
The Boston mixed under 10s team has won the group stage of the County Aegon event, moving into a final play-off next weekend against Burton Waters.
Michael Niedermeier, Will Bero, Chloe Robinson and Max Wilson beat Skegness 12-0, before Vicky Beardsley, Michael Niedermeier, Will Bero and Chloe Robinson beat Woodhall’s Tennis Buddies by the same score.
Mixed matches in the Boston and District League have started for the 2011 season.
Boston Firsts and Boston Seconds played against each other during the week, Boston Seconds winning it on the final rubber.
Joan Beale, Callum Simmons, Sophie Hawkesworth, Dom Llayton-Hannam, Sue and Dom Beesley comprised Boston Seconds, while the Firsts were made up of Jenny McGarel, Geoff Short, Steve Green, Ashleigh Frankish, Rachel Atkinson and Joe Woolley.
