BOSTON ABC boxer Logan Hare continued his winning ways with a victory over James Paton in Stoke.
The promising young fighter was too hot for the home-town lad to handle, although he remained game until the final bell.
Hare was in complete control and eased his way through each round in convincing style.
Jared Brereton put in his finest performance in the ring against Stewart Doherty as he suffered a narrow points defeat.
The Boston ABC fighter faced an opponent who had advantages of weight, age and experience and who was a former youth championship title holder.
But Brereton, also fighting in Stoke, didn’t let reputation get the better of him.
The Stoke fighter bossed the proceedings early on as he caused Brereton some anxious moments, finding the target with ease.
But the Boston lad’s confidence grew and he warmed to his task in the second round with piercing body shots.
In a contrast of styles, Brereton’s aggression was evident, but Doherty blunted attacks with his good defensive skills.
Dan Clarke is still waiting for the tide to turn.
After failing to get the not in two tight contests, it was third time unlucky as he boxed at Wisbech, missing out against Titus Cipby.
Clarke could do no more than trade blow for blow with his opponent, finishing the stronger of the two.
As the Wisbech man got the decision, Clarke took the outcome on the chin, but he and his corner were mystified that he wasn’t awarded the bout.
l BRERETON and Thomas Pogson will both be competing in the Junior ABAs this Saturday.
The two Boston ABC fighters will be in action at Holbeach in the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire regional rounds.
Pogson is the cousin of Boston fighter Callum Johnson.
