MARTIN Tomlin and Di Wilson are Boston Bowls Club’s Champion of Champions...

MARTIN Tomlin and Di Wilson have been crowned the Champion of Champions singles winners at Boston Indoor Bowls Club.

Martin beat his dad Mick 21-10 while Di won 21-10 against Chelsea Tomlin.

The pair will now set their sights on reaching the national finals at Hayling Island next winter.

The Ladies’ Club Pairs provided a surprise result when Mavis Ablard and Rita Epton were successful against seasoned bowlers Jean Thompson and Gill Grant, winning 19-11.

The Ladies’ Drawn Pairs title went to favourites Janet Whyers and Janet Vinter, with a win of 20-14 against Sandra Tebbs and Sue Hoyles.

Chelsea Tomlin was pushed all the way by Sue Hoyles in the Webster Singles, with a win of 13-12.

The Handicap pairs saw Katie and Keith Tointon (+8) giving Tina Reeson and Andrew Reeson (+4) a tough game, the latter coming through to win 33-29.

The Men’s Pairs was one way traffic, with Matt Whyers and Jonathan West successful 23-4 against the Morris brothers.

In the Men’s Over 60s pairs, Austin Wright and John Benton were too strong for Keith French and Mick Tomlin, the former winning 28-18.

The Ladies’ Club Triples went to Jenny Hill, Gill Grant and Sheila King (19-10), beating Janet Vinter, Jean Thompson and Norma Barnes.

Pat Weaver lifted the Mottram Cup following a success against Sandra Tebbs (15-13).

The Men’s 4 Wood Singles (15 ends) saw Ady Field in magnificent form, defeating David Allen 24-7.

Keith French is the Over 60s champion, recovering from a poor start to win against Jeff Nicholson.

The Under 25s Singles, as expected, went to Matt Whyers, who won 21-2 against Alex Simpson.

The Men’s 2 Wood singles handicap ended up with a win for Paul Flatters (0) against Mark Freemantle (+3), the final score being 18-16.

The Mixed Pairs title went to the Whyers combination of Janet and Matt, who defeated Chantal Spencer and Jonathan West 19-18.

The Under 18s (Senior) Singles was won by Chelsea Tomlin, who was pushed by Lewis Skinner, having to come from behind to register a win of 21-19.

The Under 18 (Junior) Singles saw Hannah Kitchen winning 21-7 against Rebecca Clare.

EBF National Championships

THE club were well represented at Newark for the English Bowls Federation’s National Championships.

The Men’s Triples set of Paul Flatters, Martin Tomlin and Les Feary went down in the second round on a measure to the last bowl of the game.

Chelsea Tomlin and Ian Clark lost in the semi-final of the Mixed Pairs.

Ian also had a good run in the singles, before going out in the semi-finals.

Under 25s singles entrant Jonathan West lost in the final, 21-15.

Ladies’ Pairs team Di Wilson and Chelsea Tomlin lost in the quarter-finals to Suffolk.

In the Ladies’ Singles, Chelsea Tomlin lost in the final to a good performance from the representative from Nottinghamshire.
