It has been a lean couple of weeks for the Boston Indoor Bowls Club sides in national team events .

The Ladies’ Yetton team and the Men’s Denny team have both lost to Spalding.

The Ladies went down 78-89, with the home set of I. Reeson, S. Simpson-Shaw, G. Grant and J. Cammack winning 34-9.

The gents were 40-33 up, but in the second half of the match the Spalding players at Boston scored a massive 42 shots to Boston’s eight as they won 70-91.

The Ladies’ Mason team comfortably beat Grantham 38-26, J. Cammack winning 19-12 at home and G. Grant 19-14 away.

Eastenders consolidated top spot in Division One of the Boston Indoor Bowls League with a comfortable 6-0 win over Royal Mail.

M. Whyers (23-13) and S. Reeson (23-14) settled it.

Holland Fen dropped a couple of points against Half Pints thanks to an 18-13 from S. Lawrence, and they only just hung on to the aggregate by two shots after K. French dropped nine shots on the last three ends to win 27-17.

Carlton Road had a double week, disposing of Swineshead 6-0 (C. Gill 30-8, L. Feary 23-8) and Royal Mail by ther same score (G. Parker 27-5, C. Gill 25-20).

Jolly Farmers are turning their season around, and recorded a 4-2 win over IBC as J. Maury’s 23-16 just edged out M. Asplen’s 23-17.

Invaders faced A40 and a 23-18 from S. Whyers just beat J. Cammack’s 15-11 for a 4-2 win.

In Division Two, leaders Norprint beat bottom team Boston Park 6-0 (J. Nicholson 31-8, B. Barton 22-17) while second-placed Punchbowlers could only muster a single point from their game with Patriarchs, a 24-24 between T. Bush and A. Bristow and a 23-13 win for R. Woods giving Patriarchs a 5-1 win.

Parthians beat Breakaways 6-0 (P. Sharp 27-11, P. Bedford 19-12), while Poachers lost 4-2 to Feathers as J. Sellars’ 18-15 was not enough to match the 22-13 reply from G. Dawson.

The Golfers dropped two points to Strollers, G. Scarboro winning 17-9 but M. Hippisley hitting back 17-16 and The Crowns just got the better of Amateurs 4-2, B. Houghton’s 24-14 bettering M. Greet’s 25-18 reply.

Division Three leaders Central beat BBC 6-0 (M. Nicholls 18-12, B. Hunn 18-13) and second-placed The Burtons lost 4-2 to The Autos, C. Hill’s 16-12 could not quite match the 25-19 reply from B. Skelton.

U3 beat Shipmates 4-2, D. Gunson’s 31-13 comfortably beating the 15-8 reply from J. Balderson.

Hotspurs stuffed Sibsey 6-0 (M. Goodeson 21-15, D. Fox 25-15) and High Flyers beat Fairways 5-1, E. Lewis winning 21-12 and R. Goodale and H. Scarboro level at 14-14.

Traders beat Vikings 4-2, S. Coultan’s 19-8 bettering a close 16-13 reply from D. Staples.
