Matt Whyers is hoping to prove he is the best of British - after being selected to bowl for England.
The 26-year-old will represent his country for the first time an an International Series in March, where he will compete against Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
And with the action unfolding in Stanley, County Durham, there is no doubt which contest the bowlers are looking forward to.
“The England-Scotland game will be the one everyone wants to watch,” he told The Standard.
“I’m looking forward to it.
“But I’m looking forward to all the games and want to do well in them all.”
Matt has previously represented the England under 25s side.
But this will be his first time out as a full international.
“I started playing when I was eight years old and I never even thought about playing for England,” Matt added.
“But it’s a great feeling”
Matt (pictured) lives in the town and represents Eastenders in the Boston Indoor Bowls League.
He is also a member of Spalding and District Indoor Bowls Club.
Matt qualified for the England team after impressing at trials held at Melton Mowbray on December 7.
He said: “I spent the day there and that evening I got the call saying I was in the team.
“I was just delighted. It feels good when you put so much hard work into something like that.”
