The Boston Tennis Club Men’s and Ladies’ First teams were winners in their opening matches of this season’s Aegon Team Tennis competition.

Both teams had home matches in the East Midlands Division of the Regional League.

The ladies played Charnwood Lawn Tennis Club and, in an even match standing at 2-2 after the singles had been completed, they snatched victory in the doubles.

The Boston team of Lucy Hull, Danielle Frankish, Emily Hawkesworth and Ashleigh Frankish succeeded in two third-set tie-breaks to win 8-4 overall.

The men – Henry Beesley, Lewis Fisher, Will Mason and Sam Kemp - played Derbyshire Tennis Club and had a convincing 12-0 result.

There were a good number of Boston Tennis Club participants in the Easter Grade Four Tournament held at Boston Tennis Club.

Ben Rudkin was the winner of the mini red tournament, beating Yasmin Everitt, a fellow club player, in the final.

There were other good performances from Matilda Clark and Billy Smith.

The nine and under orange tournament was won by Chase Burgess while Will Pettitt was the runner-up.

Making it a competitive event were Jacob Felipes and Noah Freeman.

The 10 and unders had Isabel Wookey and James Burrell as girl and boy runners-up, whilst Alice Gamman was the girl’s 12 and under winner with Christie Halton the runner-up.

Other successes were achieved by Tom Cozens, the under 16 runner-up, Angela Halton and David Cheer, runners-up in the boys’ and girls’ 18 and unders.

Victoria Beardsley won the ladies’ open singles with a win against fellow club member Emma Mastin.

Lucy Hull and William Cheer both competed in a grade two tournament at Sutton Tennis Academy.

Grade two tournaments represent a very high standard of competition and the two performed well.
