BOSTON and District AC all round under 17s athlete Maria Hollingsworth was awarded the coveted Pateman Trophy at the Lincolnshire Track and Field Championships at the weekend.
Donated by the late Mr E. Pateman, the trophy is awarded annually to the most outstanding all-round Lincolnshire born under 15 girl athlete.
Last year Maria, as an under 15, qualified for the English Schools AA Track and Field Championships in the junior girls’ sprint hurdles, and also progressed to the national final of the ESAA junior girls’ pentathlon championships.
She also won the East Midlands Regional Sportshall Athletics under 15 All-Rounder title.
Maria qualified for the National Sportshall Finals in April, finishing seventh overall and gaining the silver medal in the two-lap event.
In action at the 2011 Lincolnshire Track and Field Championships over the weekend, Maria won a gold award, two silvers and a bronze in her first season in the under 17 age group.
