A team of 20 Boston Amateur Swimming Club members swam at the City of Leicester Distance Meet.

The three-day competition offered an excellent opportunity to try to achieve good times.

In the girls’ 11/12s 800m freestyle, Jessica Pettitt finished in sixth position with a new personal best time of 9 mins 50.19 secs, while Chloe Baldry and Lauren Hurley also achieved PB times in the 11/12 and 13/14 age groups respectively.

Boston’s boys featured prominently.

Lewis McGarry and William Pettitt finished third and fourth in the nine/10 years boys’ 200m freestyle finals.

Lewis secured four second place finishes, in the 200m and 400m individual medleys and the 200m butterfly and 200m breaststroke; closely followed by William, who finished third in the 400m freestyle and 200m butterfly and fourth in the 400m individual medley.

Isaac Reed finished third in the 400m individual medley and fifth in the 400m freestyle.

While personal bests were tumbling for the girls, they faced tough competition and top-six positions were hard to come by. Jessica Pettitt swam a PB 2 mins 42.47 secs in the girls’ 11/12 years 200m butterfly for fourth position.
