Boston area pigeon fanciers are reeling from the carnage caused to their flocks by the burgeoning numbers of birds of prey in the area.
They are particularly concerned about the activities of the peregrines housed on Boston Stump, and their progeny of previous years, which they believe have been responsible for the death of dozens of racing pigeons, and have caused injury to many more.
Some of them were competing from Seaham Harbour, a distance of 140 miles to Boston, on Saturday.
