Pole and feeder do the trick

Strong winds hampered presentation on Swallow Lake, but Roy Wells claimed first place in Westwood Lakes’ Sunday Open.

He alternated between pole and feeder to catch carp to 8lb from peg five on Swallow Lake.

Roy put 74lbs 20z on the scales to take the win from the field of 17 anglers.

In second was Dave Thornton from peg 19 with 64lbs 4oz and Paul Harsley was third.

Thursday’s Over 50s Open saw 28 anglers compete on Falcon Lake.

In mild conditions, Ron Cuthbert drew peg 42 and found the f1 carp still feeding up in the water, and won the match with 62lbs 8oz.

Ron fished banded pellet shallow.

In second was John Gooden on peg 12 with 60lbs 12ozand Brian Harding was third.
