Boston Hockey Club’s under 12s were in Lincolnshire Junior League action on Sunday - earning themselves promotion to the top tier.
Playing in the second division against Spalding Lions, who were a very well-organised and determined side, Boston started well but struggled to get their game going.
The defensive duo of Thomas Scuffham and Basil Thattil, who was making his debut, held firm while keeper Matthew Bell was only called into action once, with a fine clearance kick.
Zain Asif scored both goals in a 2-0 victory, both moves involving his twin brother Mursaleen and Marco Gilmour.
The following game saw Boston beat Long Sutton B 1-0.
Again, Asif found the net after some excellent work from Will Wright.
Debutant Harry Emmerson stood firm in defence in this game, although he wasn’t troubled regularly.
Game three saw the Boston side ease past Sleaford Foxes 5-0.
Gilmour scored three very well-taken goals and Wright scored the other two.
The final contest of the day was against Bourne Deeping Griffins.
Boston played with a slight touch of overconfidence and the hockey wasn’t as smooth as it had been in prior games.
However, they still managed to score four without reply.
Wright grabbed two goals, with Mursaleen Asif and Scuffham also scoring to secure promotion.
