Rachel Atkinson and David Makins are the 2015 winners of the Bombay Brasserie over 35 Mixed Tournament at Boston Tennis Club.

David and Rachel won through some close matches to win this event for the first time as a pair.

The couple were unbeaten throughout the day and had particularly close matches against Helen Duckett and Phil Cosgriff, Diane Sharpe and Rod Horne and Linda Barrow and Michael Audus.

The sponsors provided the prizes and David Makins and Rachel Atkinson will enjoy a meal courtesy of the Bombay Brasserie.

Boston Men’s Seconds drew 4-4 with Grantham in an away match in Division Two of the Lincolnshire Senior Winter League.

The team of Richard Hart, Michael Audus, Andy Clamp and David Makins started proceedings on the outdoor courts at Grantham and finished up completing the match indoors due to heavy rain.

The Ladies’ First team had an away match at Grimsby at the St James club.

The team of Jenny McGarel, Rachel Atkinson, Rachel Gedney and Mary Smura feared the worst as the team journeyed up north.

However, a very strong performance from captain Jenny, alongside Rachel, during the first round put the team in a bargaining position.

Winning the first set tie-break, the pair continued to play very well to win the rubber and leave the score at 1-1 after the first round.

St James’ first pair proved too strong for both Boston pairs and the final score was 1-3.

The Boston mini tennis teams are very much back in action and both Boston Red A and B had a match on Saturday afternoon.

Boston Red A - James Gedney, Will Pettitt, Poppy Gibbons and Jacob Felipes - had a clear win over Sleaford and did not drop a rubber.

Boston B’s Jessica Dolata, Yasmin Everitt, Matilda Clark and Ben Rudkin had a tougher time against Deeping and missed out 3-15, but put in some good performances against a strong team.
