Mickie Simpson claimed second place in the seventh round of the Young Lions British Speedway Championship.
With some close rivals competing in the Czech Republic last weekend, hopes were high for the Wrangle rider in Eastbourne.
Mickie won three of his heats, finishing second in the other behind Jordan Palin.
In the final, the 12-year-old found himself lining up alongside Palin, Luke Harrison and Danny Curl.
Palin took the lead and, despite pressure from Mickie, he held on for first place.
Mickie also competed at King’s Lynn in a round of the Southern Track Riders amateur meeting.
But with only two riders in his group, Mickie on a 125 and opponent Josh Parnell on his 150, he claimned three wins.
