Shodfriars 20 move in on top spot in snooker league

Shodfriars 20 moved to within three points of top spot in the Boston Snooker League’s Snooker League as they beat Cons 1 8-0.

Wins were earned by Darren Christian, Carl Rowe, Tom Hill and Daley Richardson.

BSC 1’s 100 per cent record was halted by the improving BSC 2, following a 4-4 draw.

Craig Fitter and Steve Mooney drew, as did Brian Bowman and D. Himsworth. Meanwhile, Lee Ford beat Tom Goldstein 2-0, Tom’s first dropped frames of the season so far, and M. Pickworth rescued the draw with a win over Grant Marshall.

BSC 13 and BSC 3 also played out a draw. The 2’s N. Robinsonwith and Adam Brackenbury, for the 13, were the only winners, as the other matches were draws.

BSC 9 moved off the bottom of the table with a 4-4 draw against BSC 5. Mark Ferguson beat Ben Howden, D. Quinn, Chrissy Alwood - her first win of the season - and John Sharpe all won their matches.

Breaks: C. Fitter 55, 35, M. Pickworth 40, J. Welch 38.

In the Premier League, leaders Q Club 1 slipped to their first defeat of the season against BSC 8, losing 5-3. Steve Greensmith and Nathan Barton drew, Ian Dallywaters beat Craig Lee, Adam Norton drew with Barry Cox and Shaun Dunmore drew with Chris Taylor.

BSC 19 closed the gap as they beat Cons 2 5-3. Will Tyson won his two, with Graham Sharp, Nick Harwood and Rob Alexander all drawing.

BSC 12 beat BSC 16 5-3, Graham Day the only victor in a match dominated by draws.

Q Club 2 remain bottom of the league, but they did beat their third team 5-3. Louis Wong and Andy Bush both won while Julian Furnell drew with Scott Simpson.

In Division One a top-of-the-table clash saw BSC 4 beat Shodfriars 3 5-3. P.J. Smith lost to R. Crunkhorn before S. Richardson and Luke Arons beat Colin Woodcock and J. Ely respectively. The final game saw Perry Pagden draw with John Vines.

BSC 10 beat BSC 11 5-3 and BSC 16 beat Cons 5 5-3.

Division Two saw leaders Graves Park 3 reverse last week’s defeat with a 7-1 win over BSC 17.

J. Hodgson, G. Hall and J. Clark all won and M. Hodgson drew with Will Schooling.

Second-place Cons 3 drew with Q Club 3 as all the matches were drawn.
