Teenager Danny Storey entered his first road race on Sunday... and won.

Competing in the Pedal Pushers Circuit Series at Lincoln’s Yarborough circuit, the 16-year-old linked up with fellow Boston Wheelers Earl Taylor and Chris Clayton in the British Cycling Category 4 race.

A broken chain saw Earl retire, while Chris lost touch with the leading group, leaving Danny to ride the last half of the race alone with the lead group.

And a sprint finish saw him cross the finish line first - by a wheel’s length.

That moved Danny up the rankings to be a Category 3 rider after just one race.

Adrian Marshall has won the Wheelers’ 10-mile time trial series.

He wrapped things up last Tuesday in poor conditions, finishing in a time of 21 mins 53 secs.

Results: Adrian Marshall 21-53, Neil Coles 25-10, Neil Booley 26-53, Chris Clayton 27-09, Richard Cripps 29-19.

Private trials: Richard Hamblin 22-12, Gary Foreman 23-34, Alan Keys 24-11, Nick Milward 24-14, Richard Horton 24-30, Jonathan Self 27-20.
