Eight Boston and District Athletic Club junior athletes appeared in a top three position in the Lincolnshire County Sportshall Athletics Championships’ results.

In the under 11 girls’ championships, Malena Baxter won three individual titles and also claimed three third places and a fourth in the 34-strong age group competition.

Malena’s victories were in the speed bounce (51), high stepper (13.9 secs) and standing triple jump (5.20m).

A two-lap run (27.4 secs) and a standing long jump (1.86m) gave Malena outright third places, with a nine target throw earning her equal third position and a 44cm vertical jump adding a valuable fourth place.

In the same age group, Georgia Ward secured a fourth place finish in the standing triple jump (4.82m).

Four Gold Tops featured in a top three position in the under 11 boys’ championships.

Matthew Lewis claimed equal second place in both the chest push (5.5m) and in soft javelin (14m) and Ryan Firth was second in the balance beam (30 secs).

Connor Bateman was equal second in the target throw (10) and Haddley Bedford was third in the speed bounce (49) fourth in standing triple jump (5.03m).

At under 13 level, Lucy Raywood finished a clear second in the four-lap (58.5 secs) and in the boys’ championship Hallam Bedford secured three seconds in two-laps (28.8 secs), shot (4.03m) and speed bounce (66).

In the under 15s, Alex Riches won the four-lap championship (54.8 secs).

Teams will now be selected to represent Lincolnshire in the East Midlands regional under 11, 13 and 15 championships at Grantham on January 31.
