Boston Rowing club travelled to Burton upon Trent last weekend to compete in the annual regatta.
For some of the 15 members of the club, it was their maiden competition.
Indigo Summerfield won the open J13 single scull on the Saturday in extremely hot conditions, against fine opposition from two Warrington crews in heat and final.
Indigo won with clear water between her and her opponents on both occasions.
Ruby Latka won her women’s J12 single scull on the Sunday, fending off opposition from Hollowell scullers in the heat race and a Loughborough boat in the final, again with clear water separating boats in both races.
The level of competition was very high, the venue attracting record entries which seems par for the course this year as the sport is experiencing huge interest since London 2012 and Great Britain’s success.
Isy Whitehead reached the final of her event.
But having to go through one heat more than her opponent, the tiredness took its toll.
Polly and Saffi Summerfield made the final of the women’s J15 double sculls against a very capable Newark crew in a stunning final.
The club is on it’s travels again this weekend to St Neots, which will be followed by the Peterborough Summer Regatta.
