Tennis ace Joe Woolley put in a great performance to win the Winter National Tour 18 and under tournament at Sunderland.

The Boston Tennis Club youngster - who currently trains in Nottingham - won the grade two competition, and the points he collected for the victory will go towards qualification for the National Finals of the event which will be held next year.

Dominic Beesley won through one round of the competition.

In the Boston and District Winter League, Boston A team beat Boston’s E team, while Boston C team were away at Horncastle.

Boston A’s Matthew Gedney, Harry Foster, Joe Parla and Trent Hutson beat Pawel Aranin, Paul Stevenson, Helen Duckett and Martin Bonev 5-3 win.

Boston C – James Newton, Ryan Frankish, Dan Bambridge and Anthony Hulley - had a convincing 4-0 result.

The Boston Ladies’ Seconds had an excellent 5-3 win against Grimsby Seconds in the Lincolnshire Veterans’ League.

The team was Tricia Sweeney, Judith Walker, Joan Beale and Jane Hindmarch.

In the Lincolnshire Mini Tennis Leagues, Boston A beat Grantham 6-0, with Lois Boothby, Isabel Wookey, Rebecca Dickens, James Gedney, Will Cheer, Harvey Vickers, Thomas Hull and Matthew Dickens competing.

The Boston B team - Isabelle Servonat, Bethany Hayes, Hannah Fisher, Georgina Hardy, Thomas Piggins, Devon Morgan, Dominic Sharpe and William Cheer - lost 6-0 to Eastgate.
