Tennis club men defeat rivals Grantham

Boston Tennis Club’s Men’s Seconds beat Grantham 6-3 in Division Two of the Lincolnshire Slazenger Doubles League.

Anthony Hulley, Dan Bambridge, Ray Frankish, Chris Cook, Geoff Short and Ryan Frankish made up the team.

The Ladies’ Seconds - Jenny McGarel, Rachel Gedney, Claire Smith, Linda Barrow, Dana Kenneally-Forrester and Mary Smura - won 5-2 at Eastgate.

The Men’s Thirds beat Tealby 9-0 (Chris Cook, John Gibson, Geoff Presland, Mike Sweeney, Richard Hart and Fred Calvert) and St James Seconds 6-3 (Chris Cook, Ray Frankish, Geoff Presland, Mike Sweeney, Richard Hart and Ryan Frankish).

The Ladies’ Fifths - Tricia Sweeney, Diane Sharpe, Mary Clay, Sarah Moysey, Rachel Stevenson and Val Verdegaal - beat Louth Seconds 5-4.

In the Aegon Team Tennis, the Boston boys’ 12 and under B team - Harry Foster, William Bero, Max Wilson and Joseph McGarel - didn’t lose a rubber against Bourne, while the girls’ 12 and unders – Victoria Beardsley, Lucy Hull, Chloe Robinson and Ellie Pybus – won 10-2 at Burton Waters.

The eight and under mixed B team - Devon Morgan, Myron Baxter, Isabel Wookey and Thomas Woods - beat Sleaford 18-14.
