Tennis trio smash their way into national finals

BOSTON Tennis Club juniors Henry Beesley, Joe Woolley and Dominic Beesley have all qualified for the Winter National Tour finals.

Qualification for this event - open to the nation’s top youngsters - depends upon success throughout the winter in a series of tournaments held around the country.

Henry Beesley played in the under 14s National Grade Two event in Nottingham and reached the last 16.

This, combined with his result at Bath in October, has qualified him for the Grade One Winter National finals at Roehampton next month.

Joe Woolley reached the quarter-finals at Nottingham and has also qualified for Roehampton.

Dominic Beesley reached the quarter-finals of the under 16s Grade Two event in Bolton, losing to the number one seed.

He has qualified for the under 16 Grade 1 National finals.

Boston have three teams playing in the Lincolnshire Winter Mini Tennis League.

Boston A played Skegness and won at green and orange level, with Daniel Dorey, Joe Cannon, Matthew Gedney and Paris Royal representing Boston.

Boston C - Harry Foster, Lucy Hull, Thomas Hull, Alastair Boothby, Anton Kiss, Rodrigo Quevedo, Lucy Hopper and George Spencer - narrowly lost out at Eastgate, Lincoln.

Against a strong Grantham team, Boston B lost out 2-1.

But Boston B were in action again, narrowly losing 2-1 to Eastgate.

Lucy Hull, Harry Foster, Thomas Hull, Bradley Worth, Jordan Stone, Harvey Vickers and Callum McMillan. represented Boston.

Boston Ladies’ Veteran team – Jenny McGarel, Rachel Atkinson, Helen Cook and Mary Smura – lost out in the Lincolnshire Veterans League when they played St James Seconds at Grimsby on Sunday.

The team lost 1-7.
