Tennis youngsters are in form for Winter League

BOSTON Tennis Club’s A Team beat Billinghay in the Winter League.

The team of Calum McCaig, Carl Robinson, Sam Khan and Zak McDonnell-Woods lost out in only one set to give the team a 3 1/2-1/2 result.

Boston D team had the same scoreline against the Boston E team.

The Boston B team – Richard Tupper, Chris Mepham, Chris Cook and Sarah Grant - dropped just the one set against Boston E team of Peter Elphick, Ros Keane, David Dunlop and Lisa Stevenson.

The Aegon 18 and under County Cup was held over the weekend.

Lincolnshire teams were in action at Taunton and at Norwich.

Boston Tennis Club members Emily Hawkesworth, Madeline Verdegaal, Dana Kenneally-Forrester, Lewis Fisher, Joe Woolley, Henry Beesley and Edward Colclough joined players from around the county to make up the two Lincolnshire teams.

The Lincolnshire girls played in group 5B against Suffolk, Northamptonshire and Shropshire at Norwich.

The girls finished in overall second place in their group after challenging keenly for promotion.

They beat Suffolk 5-4 and Northamptonshire 7-2, but lost out to Shropshire.

The boys lost against Devon and Suffolk before also losing a tense final-day clash against Oxfordshire, meaning they were relegated.
