Boston Tennis Club’s William Cutforth, Harry Foster, Trent Hutson and William Cheer have won the under 14s Junior Outdoor Autumn League.

On Sunday - the same day as Great Britain won the Davis Cup - they claimed a 5-1 win over Louth.

For the aspiring youngsters, two wins in the doubles set the team up well and the boys did not disappoint in the singles, nearly pulling off a clean sweep.

Trent battled hard at number three, losing out in two tie breaks 6-7, 6-7.

William Cheer won 6-4 and 6-4 and William Cutforth and Harry Foster, playing at one and two, also won in two sets.

Matthew Gedney and Lucas East had taken part in the earlier rounds for the team and also played their part in the success.

The Boston boys’ 18 and under team played Grantham on Saturday in their age-group final of the Lincolnshire Junior Autumn League, but Felix Beech, Zach McDonnell-Woods, Thomas Cozens and David Cheer narrowly lost out.

The scores were locked at 3-3 after the singles and doubles, Grantham winning a tie-break shootout 7-6.

The Aegon Winter County Cup took place from Friday to Monday in tandem with the Davis Cup.

All the counties’ men’s and ladies’ teams compete over these three days, normally in a group with three teams from other counties.

Lincolnshire Men - including Boston’s Dom Beesley, Henry Beesley and Will Mason - played at Hull in Division Two but suffered narrow losses to Yorkshire, Norfolk and Kent.

The Ladies - with Victoria Beardsley in their team - played in Division Five and had wins against Cornwall, North Wales and North of Scotland, gaining promotion for next year.
