The Boston Tennis Club Ladies’ Senior First team played their last match in the Lincolnshire Slazenger Winter Doubles League - concluding with a draw away at North Scarle.

The match, which had been postponed twice due to bad weather, was eventually played last week.

Jenny McGarel, Linda Barrow, Sue Burnett and Helen Duckett earned a share of the spoils as the team finished in an overall mid-table position.

The senior teams enjoyed a solid winter season with the Men’s First team in third place in Division One and the Men’s Third team runners-up in Division Two of the league.

The Ladies’ Seconds also finished near the top of Division Two.

In the National Knockout competition, Boston Ladies were in action at Beccles Tennis Club.

For Jenny McGarel, Margaret Wright, Jenny Murphy and Mary Smura, this was the second time in three years the team had drawn this away fixture.

The result was similar to before and once again the team lost, this time 1-3 as their hosts proved too strong yet again.

The mini teams have had success in the Lincolnshire Slazenger Mini Tennis Indoor Leagues.

These are played over the winter months and concluded on Saturday.

Each age group – red, orange and green – eight and under, nine and under and 10 and under – was won by a Boston team.

The club is now looking forward to the summer season where the Lincolnshire Slazenger Doubles League and Aegon Team Tennis come to the fore.

In the Aegon Team Tennis, Boston has more than 20 teams entered across a series of age groups.

The matches begin in April and both the Men’s and the Ladies’ teams are competing in the Regional Division.

The Ladies play David Lloyd Burton Waters, Lincoln, at home on April 9 whilst the Men play West Bridgford at home on April 23.
