The skipper isn’t Downs on his luck

KESTRAL Lake held the Tuesday open at Westwood Lakes, carp and barbel were the order of the day and Skipper Downs soon led to win the £1,000 spoils with 63lb 8oz.

Thursdays over 50’s saw another good turnout with 37 anglers on Skylark. Local rod Paul Harlsley fished peg 24 at 14 m on the shelf for a weight of 94lb 8oz of carp barbel and ide on sweetcorn over 2m pellet 94lb 8oz

Sundays open on Skylark saw many top local anglers attend and with 39 anglers fishing the quality came through and the lake record weight was broken by top local angler Luke Morley who fished 6mm pellet over 4mm feed pellet at 14m on the inner shelf, hooking himself the £1,000.

Tuesday Open results: 1 Skipper Downs 63lb 8oz, 2 Ron Roberts 53lb 8oz and 3 Paul Ogalsbee 49lb 12oz.

Thursday over 50s Open Match results: 1 Paul Harlsley 94lb 8oz, 2 Brian Thompson 77lb 8oz, 3 Jeff Duggan 71lb 12oz and 4 Dave Powell 64lb 4oz.

Sunday Open Match results: 1 Luke Morley 146lb 13oz, 2 Mick Brumpton 97lb 8oz, 3 Mick Stamp 84lb 2oz, 4 Steve Pell 80b and 5 Tony Evans 77lbs 3oz.
