This Saturday will see some of the world’s top bowlers descend on the Boston Indoor Bowls Club for the Premier Three’s Grand Final.

Players have been travelling the country competing in qualifying events for two years to earn a place in the event, with only the top 48 on the ranking list invited to play for the £1,000 cash prize.

And there will also be players with ties to the Boston club in action.

The field includes recent Boston Open winner and runner-up Nicky Brett, from Ely, and Torquay’s Danny Denison.

Also taking to the greens will be world-ranked Greg Harlow (Ely), Mark Royal (Ipswich) and Simon Skelton (Nottingham),

Ladies World Matchplay champion and Ladies British Isles singles champion Rebecca Field (Norwich, formerly of Boston), Ladies National Pairs winner Pam Cutts (Nottingham), Ladies National Fours winner Chelsea Tomlin (Boston), National Over 60s Singles winner Lea Blackham (Sudbury) and many more International players and past National Champions, will take part.

The format for the day is somewhat akin to Twenty-20 cricket.

The players take part in games over three sets, three ends per set and use three bowls.

If the game ends in a tie the players play a one-bowl shoot-out to decide the winner.

Each game last only half an hour so your either on it or out.

This is a very attacking formula and the action will be non-stop from 9am until the final at around 8pm.

With disco lights, walk-on music for the later stage draws and the fast-paced format, this is bowls like you have probably never seen before.

The Rosebery Avenue club will be open from 8.15am.

In the Boston Indoor Bowls League, Eastenders took a step closer to the Division One title as they now sit 19 points clear of rivals Holland Fen.

Meanwhile, in Division Three champions-elect Poachers still can’t be crowned champions after dropping two points to The Autos.
