Dave Coupland believes he has proven he can become a major force on the Challenge Tour, after claiming his biggest career cash prize to date at the Turkish Airlines Challenge.
The Boston golfer finished the four rounds at the National Golf Club, Belek, in joint second on level par to scoop 14,000 Euros.
“It’s my first year on the Challenge Tour so, at first, people don’t really know who you are,” said Coupland. “They just know you came up from the EuroPro Tour, and that’s about it.
“Hopefully, people will know who I am now.
“It’s a great feeling to finish up there and hopefully this will be the first of many tournaments where I finish up there on the leaderboard.”
Coupland shot rounds of 71, 70, 73 and 74 on the par 72 course to finish level with Denmark’s Jeppe Huldahl and Frenchman Jerome Lando Casanova.
The tournament was won by Coupland’s Welsh roommate Oliver Farr, who finished on -2.
Coupland returns to tour action at the Karnten Golf Open, Austria, tomorrow.
