Two Joes singled out as stars of the future

TWO players from Boston have earned a place on the Lawn Tennis Association’s (LTA) AEGON FutureStars Programme.

Joe Fisher, 8, who trains at Nottingham Tennis Centre, has earned a place for 2011 whilst Joe Woolley, 13, who trains at Boston Tennis Club, has retained his place on the programme.

The two Joes will join 376 other talented youngsters who all receive varying levels of support and funding for their coaching programmes from the LTA.

The programme recognises and supports some of the best juniors in the country.

The players earned a place following a successful year on court.

A number of juniors have also been retained from last year who continue to impress with their excellent results.

Elena Baltacha, Britain’s number one women’s player and a member of Team AEGON, the elite squad of performance players, commented: “It’s really important that players get the right level of support from a young age.

“This enables them to develop their skills and grow as tennis players.

“That’s why the AEGON FutureStars programme plays such a big role in nurturing talented young players.”
