Unbeaten start continues for Holland Fen in bowls league

Holland Fen’s unbeaten start to the Boston Indoor Bowls League continued this week, although Halfpints became the first team to take points from them.

I. Reeson, B. Reeson and S. Lawrence won 20-15, and it took a late rally by Fen’s Mick Tomlin on the other rink to win 19-10 to hand the title favourites a 4-2 win.

A40 moved to the top of the table in a double week.

A 6-0 win over Invaders (S. King 27-12, J. Gott 30-14), was followed by another 6-0 success over IBC (S. King 23-10, J. Cammack 24-12).

Carlton Road are second after a 6-0 win over Swineshead, L. Feary 22-13 and C. Gill 22-13 victorious.

Eastenders are also in the top four after a 5-1 win over Royal Mail, P. Flatters winning (19-14) and S. Reeson and K. Sharp drawing 16-16.

Jolly Farmers stay rooted to the bottom of the table after a 6-0 defeat at the hands of IBC, R. White (28-13) and M. Asplen (23-14) doing the damage.

Norprint are keeping up a relentless pace at the top of Division Two, beating Strollers 6-0 with J. Nicholson (22-15) and T. Hall (18-12) successful.

Second-place Golfers are four points behind after they beat the Crowns by the same score, N. Ablard (21-9 )and G. Scarboro (14-11) victorious.

Poachers are finding life a little tougher this year, and Parthians were one shot too good.

M. Dodes’ 22-17 was not quite enough to match the 18-12 reply from K. Nix for a 4-2 result.

Punchbowlers recorded another 6-0 win, this time over Feathers. T. Bush (35-12) and I. Drury (16-14) both won.

Amateurs registered their first win of the season with a solid 6-0 victory over Breakaways, P. Weaver winning 15-10 and M. Greet adding a 26-9.

Boston Park are yet to win, going down 6-0 to Patriarchs,

A. Bristow (19-11) and R. Woods (16-14) won it.

The Burtons and Vikings are going at it hammer and tongues at the top of Division Three, both recording 6-0 victories.

The Burtons beat U3 (C. Newham 17-13, D. Bailey 28-11) and Vikings beat Shipmates (R. Sawer 22-14, P. Jacklin 16-13).

Central are in third after a 6-0 win over bottom team High Flyers (B. Hunn 16-13, M. Nichols 24-19) and Fairways beat Sibsey 5-1 (A. Hall 23-11, C. Nundy and A. Dunnett drawing 15-15).

BBC beat The Autos 4-2, a 28-11 from M. Kirk easily beating the 25-18 reply from B. Skelton .

Traders just nipped in front of Hotspurs after a very close 4-2 win, N. Stanley’s 16-13 just beating the 14-13 reply from D. Fox.
