Tommy Upsall was on the wrong side of a unanimous verdict when he fought M. McManus of the Jimmy Evans ABC.
The Boston Amateur Boxing Club senior was in fine form as he travelled to Manchester for the bout.
However, McManus was the first to take control of the contest as he unleased a telling blow which had the Boston man taking a standing eight count.
From the re-start Upsall knew he was playing catch-up .
In the second round his opponent had switched to his more natural stance.
Upsall had moments of success in the even contest, such as when he caught McManus with a telling body blow and the Manchester pugilist took a moment to recover.
