Vickers stars as Boston swimmers are in top form

Thirty-two Boston Amateur Swimming Club swimmers took part in the first weekend of the Lincolnshire ASA County Championships, held at the Meridian Leisure Centre in the Louth.

The weekend brought together some of the finest swimming talent in Lincolnshire and it proved to be a successful weekend for the young Boston swimmers.

Swimmer of the weekend for Boston head coach Ian Wells was nine-year-old Joseph Vickers who won every boys’ event in his age group, earning himself 10 gold medals and two County records for his efforts.

Ten-year-old Cavan Chambers also came away with plenty of silverware – with four golds, four silvers and a bronze.

Overall, 58 medals were handed out to Boston swimmers on the first weekend of action.

But the event wasn’t just about the medal tally, with an amazing 114 personal bests achieved.

Thirds: Jessica Pearson, Lewis McGarry (four), Michael Keal, Thomas Liddy, Cavan Chambers, William Pettitt (two), Lewis Bontoft (two), Katarzyna Midgley (two), Jason Barnes, Harley Maddison.
